Ireland’s Largest Kayaking Event, Crana Fest 2014 is proudly supported by MalinWaters

MalinWaters are delighted to announce their support of Ireland’s largest white water kayaking event Crana Fest 2014 in Buncrana, CountyDonegal from 18th-19th October 2014. The MalinWaters brand was launched as a result of the Sail West project a Donegal County Council led EU funded project, which promotes North West Ireland, Northern Ireland and Western Scotland.According to Sail West Project Marketing Officer, Joy Harron, “MalinWaters support for Crana Fest 2014 is in keeping with our commitment to nurturing the development of marine and coastal activity in the MalinWaters regions, such as Donegal. MalinWaters and Donegal County Council wish all those taking part the very best of luck and we look forward to many more annual Crana Fest events”.

 

 

Crana Fest is a significant addition to the MalinWaters maritime calendar of events for 2014. MalinWaters is part financed by the European Union's European Regional Development Fund through INTERREG IVA Cross-Border Programme managed by the Special European Unions Programmes Body with co-funding provided by the Department of the Environment in Northern Ireland and the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government in the Republic of Ireland.

 

 

This adrenalin packed event takes place over two days of white water action along the Crana River, Swan Park, Buncrana, Inishowen, Co. Donegal. All paddle abilities are invited to take part in the competitions and coaching sessions over the weekend.

 

 

Crana Fest has the best coaches in Ireland attending including; three-time Olympian Eoin Rheinisch, who finished 4th in the K1 Slalom in Beijing and Robert Hendrick, who recently won silver at the Youth Olympics in Nanjing.

Coaching sessions include; Advanced Techniques, Open Canoeing, Moving Water Techniques, Ladies Only Coaching Sessions, Fundamentals Core Skills, Boofs & Drops, Progressive/Dynamic Skills and Freestyle Coaching. Three new events will feature in this year’s Crana Fest. First up is the new Wave Sport Moonlight Charge, which will take place on the Saturday night under moonlight. Second is the Surf Kayak Freestyle Event, which will take place in Ballyliffin.

 

 

 

We also have a great Palm Paddlers fancy dress party in the Drift Inn on the Saturday night, with an array of great prizes to be won. This year’s competition categories also include; the Sea Kayak race, Slalom, Wild Water Race, Freestyle, Boatercross, Dagger Dash and Palm Throwbag Olympics. Competition entry is €40 for seniors, €30 juniors. Competitor places limited, as organisers have received several hundred bookings already. Event registration will close on the 12th of October 2014, competitors can register online at www.cranafest.ie. Crana Fest is a great family day out, spectators will experience the water gushing activities along the CranaRiver. Delicious hot food and drinks will be available onsite all day.
